When your subscription becomes payable, remember that it is fully tax deductible. It would also be worth asking your employer about the possibility of making a contribution to it, since membership of a professional organisation such as NAME is an important part of your continuing professional development and will provide evidence towards achievement of the Induction Standards.

For your first year of paid membership (starting from January 2009) we are offering a specially reduced subscription rate of £20. The usual rates are: £27 if you earn between £22,000 and £35,000 a year, £63 if you earn between £22,000 and £35,000 and £90 if you earn more than £35,000.

THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MUSIC EDUCATORS

NAME is the professional association which represents all those involved directly in music education: advisers, inspectors, teachers in schools, instrumental teachers, heads of instrumental services, higher education lecturers working in teacher education and in conservatoires, and publishers.

The organisation operates on a regional basis with ten regions which organise inservice training, meetings and conferences for professional dialogue. It holds one national conference per year and its officers are regularly involved at national level contributing on your behalf to all the relevant issues and debates of the day.
