| Although this has probably been one of the shortest Spring Terms on record, it has certainly been eventful. Having received the November funding announcements from the DCSF, we have subsequently been given a series of proposals, invitations to bid and consultative reports mainly around the cultural offer. Interestingly, many of the decisions at this stage have been left in the hands of local authorities. |

Those of us working for cultural organisations are therefore liaising closely with them to ensure that music is fairly represented in their proposals.
The Spring Term has also been a busy period for the various NAME projects currently taking place. A full list with details of each project can be accessed from the home page but you will be interested to know that the eCPD project in partnership with the MEC now has a title and a web address: www.teachingmusic.org.uk. Please do take a look and register online. The site will be pre-launched at the London International Music Show on Friday 13th June. The full launch is scheduled for Friday 10th October at Conference. The first phase resources are currently being commissioned. The CfBT regional events supporting of the introduction of the revised KS3 curriculum have been taking place around England led by Jonathan Savage in partnership with the Regional Subject Advisers. Many non-members have also benefited from these days and we hope that they will now consider becoming NAME members. Finally, I should like to send warmest congratulations to Dick Hallam on his recent appointment as Music Participation Director at the DCSF. Dick will be known and respected by many NAME colleagues around the UK, not only as a past Chair, but also as a very effective consultant to the DCSF in recent years. We look forward to a fruitful and ongoing relationship with Dick. | |
